MEG Scouting Showcases, or MEG throughout the year

The MEG Montreal festival can now be found on your cultural calendar all year long.

The MEG Scouting Showcases are a new series of audition evenings, organized once a month at Divan Orange. At each event, three bands will get the chance to promote themselves in front of an audience and compete for an opportunity to get a spotlight on a MEG Showcase that will take place during the 12th edition of the MEG Montreal festival from July 29th to August 1st, 2010.

Being part of a MEG Showcase means an opportunity to play for tons of music industry professionals from all around the world. It’s also a great way to get the attention of Montreal media and Canada’s music industry.

The first MEG Scouting Showcase will take place on Friday, January 29th, where you’ll see Zeroes, The Man Machine and Transport. All these shows are Pay What You Can. Two other Scouting Showcases will take place on February 26th and March 26th. If you’d like to participate, we are still looking for bands for those nights.

Send your requests to: showcase@megmontreal.com

Zeroes plays the type of electro-punk that would make you think of Green Go… but trashier. They might also remind you of the last time you woke up all sweaty in an otherwise boring night.

The Man Machine sounds like an invasion of IT viruses, ready to eat away at your structured octets, leaving behind a binary wasteland; a machine’s primal scream ready to claim its human origins; saturated digital rock.

Guillaume Cliche bought himself a 303. Armed with his galactic synth, he paints your souls neon black for his own pleasure. Of course, his music brings to mind Justice or Le Matos, but with a dark touch that’s reminiscent of the Cougarettes.

Lhasa de Sela
All of the MEG Montreal team has a thought for Lhasa de Sela and her family. We miss her already.
