The 9th edition of Montreal's MEG festival will take place from Thursday September 6th to Sunday September 9th, 2007.

For the second year in a row, the Montreal MEG festival will be held in Parc Jean Drapeau during the OSHEAGA festival and will also take over a few of the city's concert halls, such as Le National, Club Soda, and Les Saints. This itinerary will seal the meeting between eclectic musical discoveries and artists already considered essentials of the independent music scene.

A long weekend of unbridled musical bliss awaits, combining the highly anticipated M.I.A., the crystalline melodies or Peter Bjorn and John, Peter Von Poehl and The Clientele; the kinetic worlds of Au Revoir Simone, Animal Collective, and Explosions In The Sky, as well as the overflowing energy of the new "French Touch" generation of Institubes Paris Terror Club, Adam Kesher, and Fluokids.

The Canadian and Québécois scenes will be well represented through the post rock music of fancy of The Besnard Lakes, the pop fantasies of Pas Chic Chic and Miracle Fortress, and the 8-bit electropunk of Crystal Castles.

The festival takes off on Thursday September 6th at 9pm when New York’s Animal Collective will take the stage to deliver their experimental psychedelic rock. MEG Montreal, in collaboration with Blue Skies Turn Black, invites us to the Le National for a hypnotic and spellbinding evening.

A little less soaring but just as powerful, the menu for Friday September 7th won't let anyone rest for a second. With the arrival of the representatives of the Parisian “Nuits Blanches”, the Institubes terrors will take hold of Club Soda at 10pm, with Dj Orgasmic, Para One, Surkin and their most recent addition, New-Yorker Curses!.

Expect a most bucolic experience on Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9, when the MEG stage opens up to the OSHEAGA festival. We'll savour a weekend at Parc Jean Drapeau in the company of the greatest names of the indie scene of today and tomorrow, from 1pm to 11pm.

Explosive interlude at club Les Saints at 10pm on Saturday night for the official after-party, led by Pharrell et Brodinski, Fluokids SoundSystem members, Kid Sister, the newest underground hip hop muse, as well as the Torontonian 8-bit electropunk duo Crystal Castles.

Once again, it sounds like the month of September will start off with music, eclecticism, and dancing...
